Springfield Specialty Meals on Wheels delivers low-cost, hot midday meals Monday through Friday to seniors who have difficulties with preparing their own meals or leaving the house. The Sangamon County Department of Community Resources provides services and referrals for low-income households and individuals, especially seniors and people with disabilities. Services include the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which assists with winter energy expenses, and the Illinois Home Weatherization Program (IHWAP), which provides energy conservation services, such as insulation, glazing, caulking and weather stripping.
