Located about 45 miles northwest of Orlando, The Villages is a sprawling master-planned retirement community for adults aged 55 and older. Sumter County Transit provides both fixed-route and door-to-door, on-demand transportation service throughout Sumter County, which includes portions of The Villages. Door-to-door rides should be booked at least 72 hours in advance, and the service operates Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Elder Options is the federally-mandated Area Agency on Aging for North Central Florida, and the service area includes Marion, Lake and Sumter counties. The nonprofit organization offers a wide range of services and programs designed to help seniors remain as healthy and independent as possible. Residents of The Villages who live in Marion County can access a variety of low-cost services through Marion Senior Services, a nonprofit agency serving the elderly and people living with disabilities.
