As a sparsely populated state, there are only two cities in Alaska listed on Genworth's Cost of Care Survey: Anchorage and Fairbanks. While monthly memory care rates in Anchorage are less than the state average, costs farther north in Fairbanks run an average of $9,063. By comparison, costs are much lower in some cities in the closest contiguous states. The average rates in Bremerton and Longview, Washington, are $6,250, and $6,375, respectively.
