Carson City is located in the northern part of Nevada. The capital city of the state, it has a population of 55,916 of whom 20.7% are aged 65 and older. With such a high percentage of seniors, significantly above the national average of 16.5%, Alzheimer’s is a concern in Carson City. Fortunately, Carson City has been one of the few locations in the country that has seen a decline in deaths caused by Alzheimer’s. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Alzheimer’s deaths were down by 9.68% between 2014 and 2018. Meanwhile, the rate of all other deaths rose by 22.62%.
One reason for this decline is the presence of special memory care units located in assisted living facilities in the Carson City area. This guide will present more information on memory care, its costs in Carson City and nearby communities as well as a resource guide that will offer seniors and their caregivers information on ways to combat this disease.
