Bath Creek Estates

First, the facilities are very well kept and modern save the rooms are a bit spartan. The staff is polite and typically very friendly. I had placed my mother in the facility so understand I have very limited experience to compare this facility to. Here are the issues: 1) They are terribly understaffed especially on the weekends. I had several calls for my mom that she couldn't breath, had not been fed or needed some type of assistance. I immediately called the facility. Sadly, the phone just rang and rang. It was necessary for me to drive 45 minutes to see if I could assist her or get her assistance. To my initial surprise, there was no one around and I literally had to hunt up someone to help her. This became routine through time rather than the exception. Sad. 2) She had several falls while trying to get to the bath room, again indicating that there was insufficient staff to get to her in time to relieve herself. 3) On occasion, more frequent than not, the food was delivered warm rather than hot. There is really no excuse for this. It was quite bland but this may be a result of the dietary concerns. I basically had to take things in for her to eat. I saw on her tray many off brand products which may have had something to do with the overall food quality. 4) Mother expired and I was called to be informed of same. While this is difficult news to deliver perhaps a call saying she was near death would have been helpful as she had to pass alone. This may be something that is hard for them to do, especially when understaffed. 5) After mom's passing there was a balance due the facility that was very minor. This balance was sent to me two times. I wrote a letter to the facility advising them that the executor had not been approved by the court as of yet, and they would be paid as soon as that appointment was made. In the interim, I was sent another balance due notice, then a week later I received a collection notice from a debt collector. This may be a good business practice, but it is something the facility should look at in the future to see if there are other options to handle these situations , especially sine they were informed in writing of the circumstances. I found it quite distasteful, especially while still grieving such a loss. In closing, I would simply suggest that anyone seeking care for a loved one thoroughly investigate the facilities available and keep the items I mention in this review in mind.
