If you would like to know what kind of people work at this facility allow me to share this with you. A month after I started working here my best friend passed away leaving behind a 5 year old son and a wife. My coworkers showed me absolutely no compassion, sympathy or kindness. As a matter of fact these people threw me under the bus for absurd reasons due to the fact that they were gay and I am a Christian who believes that the word of God tells us about the right way to live. They went to my boss making up stories about me. They told lies about me to try and have me fired WHILE I WAS MOURNING HIS DEATH. The people on 2nd shift literally are watching YouTube videos, playing on facebook or calling their girlfriends from 6:30 p.m. until 11 o'clock at night and actually have the nerve to come in at 2:30pm and criticize the work of everyone on 1st shift who breaks a sweat and actually works for 8 hours straight. There was more gossip, slander, and backstabbing here than anywhere I have ever seen. These people are EXACTLY what you read about in Romans chapter 1 of The Bible. Heartless, wicked people. This place is just like many I have seen in Santa Fe. The employees are NOT drug tested and this leads to one disaster after another. People go outside together and come back in with eyes that are glassed over & red, making it obvious that they are high or they just show up in the morning that way. I literal watched individuals smoking a pipe by the dumpster on their break while I sat in my car in the lot. At morningstar senior living in Santa Fe the range of motion exercise employee was caught on camera in a residence room MOLESTING a woman with dementia. Its was in the Santa fe New Mexican news paper. At the Montecito in Santa Fe the wellness director was caught on camera physically abusing a 93 year old woman with dementia. This was also written about by the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper. I left those cesspools because I can't stand being surrounded by disgusting, evil people like that and decided to give this place a try hoping that things would get better. Instead I found yet another business in Santa Fe that DOES NOT DRUG TEST their employees and allows people who are supposed to be adults to act like infant children at work, sabotaging the good people around them. These assisted living facilities are all the same. They tell you that the staff is fully certified as CNA's and RN's but the truth is that I was hired as a CNA and I have never been certified as one in my entire life. All of these places do that. It's a lie to make the families feel as though it is a real nursing facility when really it is not. It's a plot to get your money. I would NEVER send someone I love to ANY of these places after seeing the horror stories that exist in these places. What you see in the news about nursing home abuse and neglect is 100% real. These places are absolutely detestable and the employees have no business caring for anyone. They treated me HORRIBLY because I am a christian and the Bible doesn't agree with their immoral lifestyles or the greed that is on display in these places. I'm glad to be working in a different profession now. I would NEVER go back to a place like this again. Not after seeing the anti-christ behavior from people on every level. Its truly sad.

I worked here as a nurse for several years and this was and from what I’ve heard from fellow nurses still is a hostile working environment. Management doesn’t treat their staff well. The DON is not competent or knowledgeable as a nurse or manager or scheduler. We were always short staffed and could not provide the care these residents pay for and deserve. Prior DON gets overthrown by newest DON in the most manipulative and deceitful way. The CEO is checked out and has no clue, nor does he care. Nepotism and familial relationships dominate management and everyone suffers from staff to the residents because it is so poorly managed.

I was an ombudsman for the NM State Department on Aging at El Castillo. If you are thinking of moving there or having a parent there I strongly suggest you contact the Department on Aging Ombudsman’s office for the EC history of abuse and neglect. Adult Protective Services has investigated and found the head of Nursing, another nurse, and the head of El Castillo for abuse and neglect in the past. That is only one of many similar cases and/or law suits. Many of the residents were afraid, as were nurses, of retaliation.As the same person is still the head there, I would bet anything that this is still going on. I have spoken with nurses I saw in town as late as 2016 and they told me nothing had changed. Also look up the legal history of the head of EC concerning Highlands University in Las Vegas NM.
