Franciscan Villa

My father went to Franciscan Villa for skilled nursing. His discharge papers were for 12mg of decadron. Dr Luiscutty prescribed, and my father took, 36 mg of decadron. During his week at skilled nursing, he experienced a rapid decline. No one could give us an explanation as to why. He went from a 1 person assist to a 5 person assist in a matter of days. During this time, his attending physician, Dr Luiscutty did not check on him. After all of his illnesses and at the advice of the medical team, we took my dad home to hospice where we found out he had been over-medicated. His oncologist suggested we immediately drop the decadron in half. Unfortunately, my father never bounced back and suffered a horrible death where he literally drowned on the increased fluid caused by the over dose of steroid. Because my father did not have a spouse or minor children, there is no "injured party" according to attorneys, so even though proving neglect is easy with all of the obvious medical records, isn't a smart business decision for an attorney.
