I became a resident of Friendship Manor in mid-September 2020, after being on a waiting list for nine months. It was well worth the wait! My first impressions were all positive, in that, as I unpacked box after box in my large 2nd-floor studio the first few weeks, I was often struck by the regularity of laughter and pleasant chatter floating up from the very popular patio and garden below my window. Even with the COVID threat, residents comply with wearing face masks, yet do not give up the opportunities to sit in designated spaces to discuss life’s challenges and take advantage of getting to know one another better. This continues to date and feels refreshing, encouraging and inviting to me as a new resident. I appreciate that the Friendship Manor’s management staff, the servers, maintenance and the many resident volunteers at the front lobby are all happy, friendly, caring and attentive in trying to remember my name and/or share information in response to questions, and I look forward to paying those qualities forward to future new residents. The resident cafeteria is convenient and easy to maneuver, and most residents smile warmly as if remembering how overwhelming it can feel to be a new resident. The foods offered by the chefs at meals, taste fresh, unsalted, yet seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The menu is varied and plentiful. The talents the cooks offer are truly amazing and result in tasty dishes at every meal. Overall I consider it a privilege to be living at Friendship Manor, and I look forward to becoming more active and involved as the coronavirus diminishes.

This is an affordable and pleasant senior housing establishment. It is by far the best deal in the area with a combined food and rent price. I find the administration will listen and respond. The staff is always pleasant and often will go out of the way to help. The food is very good, especially breakfasts! The biggest problem is not the employees but some residents with anger problems. Just learn who the problem people are and avoid them as much as possible. There are activities such as bingo, movies, jog-saw puzzles, and outings to concerts or grocery stores. Occasional cook-outs and parties. They are serious about COVID-19 protections so right now you won't see the best of what they offer, but do check it out.

My uncle moved into Friendship Manor a relatively healthy man and during his thee plus years at Friendship Manor GOLETA, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I have a 1.5 year journey with FM. I know and text several residents and staff on a regular basis. I personally would give FM a five star review. From an esthetic standpoint the gardens on the campus are gorgeous with all kinds of gorgeous exotic plantings. They have a swimming pool, library, dining hall, and activities. I could count on the maintenance staff/administrative staff to be working around the clock to fix and address things as needed. They were very nice to me! The apartments are reasonably priced, ample and they keep the place neat. It eventually became that my uncle was too sick for this vibrant community and throughout the transition to a care center that was way overdue, the staff was immensely helpful, professional and patient and it was never imposed on me that he leave. They gave me ample space to take care of our business at a natural pace and were supportive. They truly cared for us and it was expressed and shown to our family daily. I am eternally grateful. I count many of the residents young and old lifetime friends. You see, I can say this because I singlehandedly packed up his apartment recently and while I was there, the staff and residents tripped over themselves to make sure I had water, snacks, trash bins, trash bags, and a fan for my comfort etc... To me the place has a feeling of family and I an outsider was made to feel like family. If you are considering a move for yourself or a family member you have a strong endorsement from me. Check it out!

Lived here for two years. With the exception of two employees, most could not find work elsewhere.Do yourself a favor and continue your search. This is rock bottom.
