Heartland of Piqua

After having back surgery, I asked to go to Heartland of Piqua for rehab. The Rehab nurses were wonderful. They got me up and walking within the week. I then went back to Miami Valley Hospital where they inserted 2 rods in my spine and took care of the pain in my legs. If it weren't for the Staff at Heartland, I truly believe I would have given up any chance to walk again. My wife of 50 years is currently residing in Heartland for at least 3 years and counting. She is slowly dying of Huntington's disease. She also qualifies for aid from Hospice. between the 2 Staffs, my wife is getting the best treatment and comfort for her situation. The heartland Staff is not always perfect in their performances all the time, but they always go out of their way to help every one they can, all the time. My family visit as much as we can every week. When we come into the facility, we are always greeted by a friendly and courteous staff, who are constantly moving all of the time. I can't thank them enough for all of their help with my wife.

I have been a resident here at Heartland Of Piqua, Over my time here I have experienced a lot of unprofessional care from the Kitchen staff to some of the nursing staff. Everytime you would hit a call button it was take sometimes 45 minutes before someone would come to see what you needed, that is so uncalled for. Residents here need care when they need it, alot of residents are in pretty bad shape and really need that extra care. The facility has rules that can be a little restricted for residents who wish to smoke in the designated area. Kitchen staff is the worse I every experienced, Each morning some residents would go down to get there morning coffee and there would be none out, so we would ask the kitchen staff for some coffee, there response would be in a rude manner IT DONT' COME OUT TILL 9am. The rudeness is uncalled for and total disrespect. Some nursing staff has the worse people skillls I have every experienced in my life. Housekeeping staff has a huge work load given to them each day, doing a lot more then they should be given I seen so many times myself Housekeeping doing rooms cleaning halls then having to shovel snow etc. which I feel is not there responsibility and should be given a raise for all the work load they do. I would like to give a Glowing Recommendation to the follow Vicki Stonerock Clara Anderson and Feliha Poole, These 3 people are the strongest workers and care so much about the residents here at Heartland Of Piqua, and seriously should be given a raise for a job well done. Please make some major improvements starting with staff and improve the food and the kitchen staff. and better care for the residents here that starts with the nursing care.
