I came to the Jewish home from UCSF surgery. I was on another floor but I was moved to the second floor to a room that has a broken toilet. I complained about this for a whole week and NOTHING was done. Then today because the toilet didn’t flush after I used it and tried flushing and flushing it, the help said I had to use a commode which was put right by my bed. I am upset and angry that this problem has not been attended to. My choice is to go home and try to survive in my condition or they move me to another room. I am waiting to hear what choice they choose.

This is more of a warehouse with CNA's running the place. Nurses cover about 20-22 patients per shift. The doctors are few and not efficient. The social workers are poorly trained and have very limited resources. Of course if you have a lot of money they would probably help one more. Don't expect any speedy response if you are having a medical crisis. My wife had all the symptoms of a stroke and it took the doctor two hours to see her. When he finally showed up he kept his back to her. Turned out they where overmedicating her and discharged her as soon as she had to be taken out by ambulance. So, since she couldn't walk and was incontinent and needed much physical therapy she had to be readmitted. Now after a few months they want to discharge her to a home that has 30 plus steps, she's still incontinent and still needs much physical therapy. So the Staff came up with a plan to get rid of her (we were changing insurance) so they said she wasn't consistent enough. WHAT? When an already disabled women who is incontinent and lost the use of her leg is being discharged to have another disabled person take care of her is just plain wrong. This person is not capable of taking care of her, just physically. Shame on the Jewish Home for being completely unreasonable and cruel. Will report their actions, especially the incompetent social worker.
