Last year my wife spent four months in Lewis County Nursing Home recovering from back surgery. I learned then that LCNH was not your typical nursing home. I had been to most local nursing homes visiting family and friends. They all seemed to offer adequate care, but what we found at LCNH was way beyond adequate. It wasn't staff going through the motions; it was genuine caring.Even knowing that we had been in the care of exceptional people, we were still surprised and amazed by the help they gave us after we returned home. Despite doctors' orders from Barnes Hospital that my wife needed to be in a skilled nursing facility, our insurance company refused to pay for the months at LCNH. I fully expected LCNH to say "Your insurance has denied your claim, so here's what you owe us." Instead, they spent an entire year fighting the insurance company on our behalf. They went through appeal after appeal, outside arbitration, and Medicare. In the end they won, and spared us a big hit to our life savings.We will be forever grateful to LCNH for all the care we received while there and afterwards. We learned that it's all about the people, and there are no better people than those you'll find at Lewis County Nursing Home.
