Our family is extremely grateful that our loved one was admitted and cared for by the Vets staff. In particular, the aides go above and beyond to respect these veterans and care for them as if they are family. Our loved one was terminally ill, while our visits were very sad we left there daily with peace of mind because we knew the staff was truly watching our loved one and doing everything they could to bring comfort, dignity and peace to an extremely sad situation. The only complaint we do have is that on the evening/early morning our love led one passed, a staff member had given our loved one an oral medicine despite orders being given to cease oral meds because of active dying. That one particular issue is still unsettling to process, as I had been with our loved one at the time of passing and noticed the half a tablet in the mouth. Someone dropped the ball there. That being said, morphine was administered properly and staff took care to phone me that death was imminent which gave the chance to be there for our loved one. Overall, we are grateful to Vets, Vets staff, Vets administrators for providing a caring environment that honors these brave men and women. I only wish there was more funding to double the amount of space, available beds and staff to accommodate more patients.
