Lydia Taft House

Please investigate before you ever put a love one in this facility. I almost lost a loved one in rehab. wing of this facility in the past 6 months, who had major, major surgery. The staff could not accommodate their needs. Management should be more involved with their patients and staff members. Do not make judgement by the appearance.

Giving this place one star is a gift to Lydia Taft House. The staff should be brought up on charges of abuse and neglect. The care is better at an animal shelter, they are so poorly staffed and overworked the staff takes their frustrations out on the poor elderly there. The standard response for everything that goes wrong with a resident is that "THEY REFUSED". These poor people need kindness and caring INSTEAD they get scolded, left to sit in their feces with bed sores and rashes. How the people that work there can live with themselves is beyond me. They need to be investigated by Medicaid, the Board of Health, the Ombudsman, the Attorney General. Putting a loved one into a nursing home is a very stressful situation and there are so many unknowns. If you read this and STILL put your loved on at Lydia Taft you will be sentencing them to abuse, pain, suffering and a tragic ending. Is that what you want?

There are too many problems with this place to fit all the problems. The MAIN problems are with the management team. The management team has no idea what goes on at this place and the nurses and CNA's do not follow procedures or know what is going on with the residents. If Tony (Mgr), Cecelia (not sure what she does) and Pam (Head Nurse) would get up and walk around this place and talk with the residents and get involved with what goes on everyday this place would be a little better. My advice to the management (if they ever read these reviews) is GET INVOLVED with your residents. Treat them with respect and act like they're you're family. The food here is HORRIBLE, ask any of the residents what the food is like. The cook (Tom) has no idea what he is doing in the kitchen and leaves most of the time and kids wind up doing the cooking. They serve fish constantly, uncooked vegetables, chicken and metas that these elderly people can't even chew!!! Just ask any resident of this place. There are a few nice CNA's (they work hard) and there are some CNA's that are mean and nasty to these poor people. The nurses don't do anything, they don't help and they act like they are above everyone. The buzzers, aye yie yie. When people have to go, they have to go. The buzzer gets pressed and everyone that works there acts like they don't hear it!!! When the buzzer gets pressed go see what they need. I've seen these poor people screaming because no one comes to their aid. Imagine sitting in your own poop and pee for 45 minutes!!!! Tony, Cecelia and Pam... would this be okay for you or your parent??? NO!! of course it wouldn't so why is this okay for any of the residents at Lydia Taft?!?!Sorry if this sounds like venting. I see and experience all of this every day. If you don't believe me... just ask any resident or their family member. It is a nice facility - that's about it. Don't judge the book by the cover. If you put a loved one at this place you will regret your decision.
