Marquette House

If you're looking for a place to put a loved one: Don't put yourself through dealing with the management or staff at the Marquette House they WILL make it as difficult as possible!The Director, head nurse, and staff are unqualified and simply don't care that they don't know what they're doing. The Director accepted my father as a resident and I quickly found out the staff was not trained in ostomy care and did not have the training to provide adequate care for my father in general. The Director took advantage of the fact that I was young and didn't suspect they were lying. The staff ended up calling me every Friday or Saturday night threatening to send my father to the hospital if I didn't show up to make their jobs easier. When he finally was able to move out I found ostomy supplies hidden all around his room, I'm guessing the staff hid it so they could call me so often. The ostomy supplies are $75 a box, I lost a lot of money on medical supplies because they never taught the staff to do ostomy care, even though I brought it up to several nurses and staff. I talked to one head nurse about it and she said she would talk to management about having an ostomy class for the staff and when I came back the next week she quit. So I taught multiple members of the staff how to change his ostomy and how to talk to him correctly, but there was so much turn over and no support from management.I lost so much of my personal time, energy and money dealing with these people because I was so young/naive and it took me awhile to realize how unqualified and unprofessional they were.After COVID restrictions were put in place, I wasn't allowed in the building and things got much worse from there. While I was trying to find my father new living arrangements the Director and head nurse called me to yell at me and harass me into moving him quicker. They sent my father to the hospital twice without ever calling to tell me! A month later I received a bill for a few thousand dollars due to ambulance costs!I complained to LARA (MI Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs) about cleanliness and care level and they said they would do an unannounced Facetime inspection of my father's room. They called and told me that they passed the inspection. That was on a Friday, and the following Monday I was let into my father's room for the first time since COVID restrictions, and their was poop all over the walls and floors! Not to mention his bed was disgusting. I don't know how they passed that Facetime inspection but I have pictures I will add to his post that prove they should've failed that inspection.Also, I've seen the police show up several times to this facility. After just a few months there I saw several members of the staff crying to the police. And have seen the police there at least two other times... So I am not sure if this facility is even safe!If you're looking for a place to live:The only way you should come here is if you are fully capable of taking care of yourself, in which case, there are so many better facilities in the area with better care.

Terrible place to have a loved one live here there are bed bugs and they know they do nothing about it no nurses on site aides constantly on phones and loud the price is not worth it look elsewhere
