Merry Wood Lodge

I am giving one star as it doesn’t allow anything lower. I am a patient in MerryWood Nutsing/Medical Rehabilitation facility, after an extensive spinal surgery that left me with no feeling in my legs. I was left for over 45 minutes waiting to go to the bathroom which ended in a fall and trip to the hospital. Upon returning to the hospital, I found my bed stripped and no staff to be found. The medics from the ambulance, had to search down the linen cart, make my bed, help me change clothes and then went and got me ice and fixed me a drink. It wasn’t until 10 minutes after they left that a staff member finally made an appearance. I have had to receive emergency antihistamines twice after I was given items I am allergic to and are listed on my chart. All but a few of the staff refuse, (even if you ask) too wear proper PPE including gowns, gloves, eye protection etc. Upon asking, you will often find yourself on the receiving end of a very loud, rude, condescending and abusive tirade. The nighttime overnight staff are the worst. The two absolute worst are a nurse named Lee and a staff members named Sharonda and Octavia. They (the staff/2 shifts) left me in a sitting position after I fell asleep for eight hours, stressing my still healing back to the point I could barely move the next day. I had to have a family member bring me a blanket as after asking for a week straight I was told they didn’t have any blankets. Upon arrival, they waited an extended amount of time and I continued to tell the floor staff she was here. After, 30 minutes I got my brace on transferred to my chair and made it off my hall and within 5 feet of the door before I was noticed and threatened if I didn’t return immediately to my room. The list goes on and on. I have been lied to, physically held down and left unattended for hours at a time. If you are considering a facility for a family member or yourself this is the last place to send them, however if you are wanting a modern day concentration camp experience then this is your.place. It is outdated, it’s furnishings look more like a 1980’s Miami Beach Retirement Community than a health care facility and the equipment appears to date from the same era. The A/C’s work about as well as a potato battery from a fourth grade science fair. DO NOT SENT ANYONE HERE NOT EVEN YOUR WORST ENEMY DESERVES TO BE SUBJECTED TO THIS FACILITY!!!!
