Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab

I can honestly say it saddens me to leave a review like this... But people should know the truth. My mother-in-law fell at home and fractured her femur resulting in screws surgically implanted at the hospital. After her brief stay there (where they were professional, kind and just wonderful). She was moved to Pointe Lookout for rehab while she healed. This was the worst experience for her, us too. She called more often than I'd like to admit about how she felt. Her pain level stayed high because they delayed bringing her medication on time. She had no real form of PT or OT until I called demanding them to. Her call button remains lit up for upwards of 2 hours sometimes before a nurse world come assist her needs. When she needed to use the restroom adding for assistance rendered useless and resulted in them placing her in a diaper. She was left dirty, laying in a feces and urine soaked bed more than once. Her hospital bed was so ancient she could not operate it by pushing buttons, it was only manually adjusted with dials and she wasn't able to do so. So it was lie in bed flat on her back or sit up for hours at a time, because she needed a nurse assisting with help in order to do that. The staff was rude, unprofessional and lacked any caring for patients. I wasn't allowed to visit inside the facility due to covid-19. She didn't have access to a phone in her room, only her cell phone, which she had to hide in her room for threat of them taking it from her. The food was horrible and she had no options of what she got served. They didn't help with trying to relocate her to a closet to home facility, instead made it so she wasn't able to. They put something in her chart that other nursing homes would deny her entry door to her "ugly behavior", we were told by a facility she was denied moving to. She was unhappy and scared and also worried that somehow she was in harm's way. The facility, Pointe Lookout, would not help in any way with any of our requests to better help and comfort mom, that against medial advice (AMA) we removed her from there and took her home. Pointe Lookout then threatened to have us hotlined and reported to the sheriff's dept...the reasons were unclear to us. Having POA and all decision making authority we could of cared less what they thought or them trying to stop us. All I know is she was so relieved when we left there she had no words, but tears of joy. So that all being said, if you care at all, even a little bit for a friend, or family member thinking of being treated here, please consider anything else....I wouldn't let my dog stay there or even my worst enemy. All I pray is that the staff working there, mistreating our loved ones, get the same treatment once they need that type of assisted living.
