Shell Point Retirement

My grandfather has been in the memory care center for awhile now. While the nursing staff, doctors, etc are good, it's the other staff that is less than desirable. This center is expensive, most are, but the quality of services should be top notch. They tell you to label everything with the member's name. That doesn't matter because only half of the clothes come back from the laundry; robes don't come back either, just the belt. My grandfather forgets to put his dentures back in his mouth and sometimes leaves them on the food tray. No one checks to see if anything other than food or trash is left on the tray, and he has had two sets thrown away. Dentures are EXPENSIVE. Same with his glasses. Hearing aids too have gone missing, and not left on the tray. They were taken off of the armoire. This is a MEMORY CARE CENTER! If anything, Help him and the others by taking an extra second to look and see that nothing expensive gets thrown away. Good lord. I don't know who they have working to clean, but it seems every time he gets a new "something", it goes missing. We have often wondered if his things are just plain being stolen. It's a shame, honestly. I guess that sort of thing happens everywhere, but in a facility that charges so much, I would expect more. Just keep in mind that if your loved one is going to stay here, not only do you have the usual expense of the facility and care, but you'll constantly be paying for duplicates of eyeglass, hearing aids, dentures, clothing items, lotions, etc., ANYTHING that isn't nailed down. Other than that, my grandfather is not abused, is cared for decently, and is loved by the nursing staff. Thank you all for that at least!!!
