The Briarwood

My dad was in for 2 weeks of rehab. His toilet seat was broken. Asked to have it fixed. The fixed it 9 days later. Nurses were rude, mean and slow. Med errors constantly. The didn’t even supply him with soap or anything. I asked to have his soap dispenser filled because it was empty when he was admitted. They never filled it. Took them ages to answer the call light. He needed to have a bowel movement and it took them 55 minutes to come in and help. All his meals were cold. ALL OF THEM! Very understaffed. Some good CNA’s. He brought to their attention that his vitals weren’t being taken every 2 days as the were supposed to be and they tried to tell him they did and he just didn’t remember. Called the supervisor and she tried to tell us he wasn’t cognitive. SERIOUSLY? The nurse told us of their conversation and dad repeated it exactly as the nurse said to us on the phone. His bed was NEVER changed or made. I did it. I went to the nurses station to see if I could shower him, which by the way they scheduled him for 2 showers a week. I stood at the desk right in front of the one nurse as she sat and chewed on a sandwich and talked to the other nurse at the other end of the desk talking about the Bahamas. The nurse was on the computer looking at prices and sites on the Bahamas. After 3 minutes of standing in front of her face she finally said could I help you? This place is a nightmare. Residents lining the hallways in wheelchairs without anything to do. Rarely would you see staff stop to talk to a resident. It was horrible care all the way around except for his Physical Therapists and Therapy. They were great. Administration is is horrible also. They’ve got their head stuck in the sand. He will never go back there again. I wouldn’t even put an animal in there for good care because it wouldn’t recieve it. Disgusting place and glad he’s out of there. I feel for the people who have to remain there the rest of their lives.
