The Haven & The Laurels in the Village at Carolina Place

My mother was in relatively good health physically and emotionally when she answered the Haven and in less than 90 days she was dead. We experienced neglect, indifference, like or concern for responsibility and borderline abuse at The Haven. We constantly had issues with communication when we would ask questions most the time whoever we first talked to didn't know anyting and as we tried to move up the chain of command we were either given unresponsiveness, or vague answers. My mother was soon and emotional distress and physical pain and it was near to impossible to get anyone who seem to care or willing to talk to us and try to solve the problems. After she passed away, no one there expressed sympathy or concern. The caregivers only have CNA training and the ratio is vague and advertised incorrectly.

My father was a resident at the Haven for approximately seven months. I visited almost daily and when I came the caretakers were always on their cell phones instead of attending the residents. He fell and broke his hip. They sat him in a chair and called me an hour after the fall stating that he seemed ' lethargic.' When I arrived it was apparent that he was in pain and could not stand. With no medical training I could easily see he needed an ambulance. I did not put my father in the Haven for their five star cuisine or their decorative environment. I put there for care taking. My father passed shortly afterwards. Please consider this place carefully before placing your loved one there.
