The Pearly Jones Adult Family Home

My family had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with this home. The owner sounds very experienced and kind, but we had a terrible experience there which led to my mom being hospitalized for severe dehydration and being over-medicated. My mom has Lewy Body Dementia and was walking with a walker when she moved there. Anna, the owner, assured us that they would do everything to help her transition to the home, but the day my mom arrived, there was only one care-taker who was busy with other residents--neither the owner or the house manager was there. My dad had to help her get settled, and after the caretaker took her to the bathroom, he found her walker outside the front door at the top of a set a stairs! She fell the next day, and had to be taken to the hospital. We were told then that she might not be able to stay there, and began looking for a new home. Somehow the house manager managed to get a prescription for Lorazapam (which is contraindicated for Lewy Body Dementia), without my dad's consent. They proceeded to give her a high dose round the clock. My dad could not visit for about a week due to the wildfire smoke, and when he went to pick her up to move her to a new facility, she was barely responsive and was taken to the hospital the following day. She is still in the hospital. A formal complaint has been filed with WA State Adult Protective Services. Do not bring your family member here--they were dishonest and negligent in their care of my mom.

We had a great tour with my mom. The staff were all wonderful and the facility looked very nice. This is currently at the top of our list.
