How this home gets good reviews is beyond me. The amount of abuse that goes on and is not reported is astounding. There is an incentive for employees to keep their mouths shut about abuse. Acts does a good job of getting ready for the survey teams. Beyond that, they are a sham. CNA's that couldn't possibly care less and management that just want to turn a blind eye and keep the revenue stream chugging along. The recent addition of a new Executive Director has only resulted in even worse performance and the concealment of abuses. Please, take it from this insider. Send your parents elsewhere.

Don't be fooled by the show that this ACT's community puts on for visitors or inspectors. Unlike other Act's communities, this one has very suspect management and more than a couple abusive staff. Do your homework and make sure your family members are safe in this community. They have fallen far and fast in the last year. Check out reviews by past employees as well. Something is off here and it is not all related to them not having enough employees. Make sure to compare how this community fared with the recent Covid-19 outbreak. Compare their numbers to surrounding facilities before making a decision to live here. There are far better options.

The positives of GFE are numerous. They have good food, beautiful grounds and the facility is generally well kept. The negatives are they are short staffed...all the time. They seem to have a hole in their ability to screen employees and are slow to rid themselves of employees that are verbally abusive towards residents. Sadly, in this community, like some others, residents are at the mercy of some less than kind folks. Most of the employees are wonderful...but, the overnight care can be spotty. Heaven forbid you soil the bed. You could be in for rough treatment by some of the CNA's. I suspect that this can happen at any community but GFE really seems to look the other way when it involves certain protected groups. Sad, but true. One of the other things about this community is that they did a horrific job protecting the staff and residents from Covid-19. Well over a dozen residents died as a result of the disease, while some surrounding communities(including some ACT's communities) had none. Very poorly handled and they should count their lucky stars that they have been granted immunity by the governor.

While there are some good aides, many are disinterested and don't seem to like working with elderly people. The administration is more interested in making excuses and hiding issues than fixing them. I'm not sure how Willowbrook Court got such a good rating with Medicare except that when they recently were onsite the staff was on their best behavior. Staff members who are never there were present to make it appear as if they are always at Willowbrook Court.
