Alaris Health at Hamilton Park

Alaris is not equipped to handle patients that are very ill. My spouse went in there with a pic line and a pump that required special attention. The nurses did not know how to work the pump and called me to assist them and I had to refer them to the infusion company. This pump my husband had was very important as the medication assisted in helping his heart pump. The nurses let the bag go dry and he had to wait for someone to figure out the pump causing him to become weak. The place also had roaches. I had to request from the nurse to speak to the doctor about placing my husband on a water pill. Because my husband was too weak to stand they put an adult diaper on him and although help was requested they would say I will be right back and never returned to the room causing my husband to stay wet with urine all night long which gave him a urinary tract infection. Please note the following before you decide to send a family member there:The nurses are poorly educated in handling the maintainance and cleanliness of a pic line.The doctors are not around to monitor the patient's as they should especially when they have patient's who require attention due to their diagnosis.Poor staffing is the major issue here, and further education is needed when Alaris has a difficult case to handle due to the patient's illness.My husband rolled his wheelchair to the front desk only to find a staff member asleep. I am convinced that if I had not remove my husband out of the facility he would have become septic from the urinary tract infection.When my husband got to the emergency room they had to insert a foley catheter which revealed he had excess urine in his bladder mixed with blood. His pic line was clogged and the hospital had to unclogg it. Lack of education and lack of staffing makes this facility unsuitable for complex patients.
