The employees here are helpful and kind. They did seem to be a little short staffed though. I think the management should hire more people.

This skilled nursing facility is absolutely horrible. We placed my father here because the other place we wanted him to go to after being discharged from U of M post-surgery had no openings at the time. He was not even there for 24 hours before he was texting us asking us to get him out of there. Upon entering the Heartland facility, we noticed a strong smell of urine. The place was dirty & unsanitary. The patients we encountered looked absolutely miserable. The equipment was outdated & rusty. Staff were unorganized & inattentive. They did not have the necessary medical supplies my father needed upon admission. No one answers the phone when you call during the day time or night time. I had to call U of M to complain before they moved my father to another facility. A word of caution to families, beware of this place. Do your research & read online reviews before placing loved ones in facilities such as this one. Make sure your loved ones sign a HIPAA release of information so you are able to communicate with facility staff. If you or your loved ones are not happy with the care being provided, contact licensing. Patients have rights & substandard care should be reported. Expect nothing but the best care!
