Our mother was sent to Lacoba for rehab from a fall, not an illness. Initial rehab was in the right direction and progressing despite several rough handlings by aids, one resulting in dislocating her shoulder. They need more aids. Mom would often wait 45min-1 hour for required help to or from the restroom. No diabetic meals, they contol by giving insulin if they "later" see needed. The doctor came by only one time 8 days after admittance and change all her meds to the "required facility brand, dosage of medications". This sudden introduction of new meds sent her body immediately into the "nursing home zombie state" and drug withdrawals. Pleas with the nurses, waiting on the doctor phone responses for hours, days, changes, still resulted in her death. Choose a facility that lets you continue your own meds, an older person's body cannot adapt to "required changes" so suddenly. Hindsight - Pleased with rehab techs and friendliness of most aides, not rushed treatment and long responses due to low staff, and definitely not "required med changes" to unrelated issue.

I brought his clothes and personal items and still tonight they hadn't even put his clothes into the only one available drawer, so I did it. He has an alzheimers patient in a tiny room with him that has taken up the entire room. He only has room on his bed and that's it. He hadn't been changed into his clothes, their reasoning, he refused. So, make him! He needs to not get one hour of PTOT / physical therapy and then left in the bed to rot until it's time for meals. They need to make him get up and walk to dining room for every meal. Didn't give him a bath, again their reasoning, he refused. He's got all his mental faculties. He just needs to be helped to put on his clothes: buttons, straightening pants,etc. They don't take him outside. I have yet to see 1 activity even though it states that there are 6 activites daily for all patients daily: bingo, crafts, cookouts, etc. They are literally just letting them sit in there and rot. I am giving another week after I go have a major talk with them. They let him have fried food, fritos, etc. when he's diabetic. They told me that he could go to dining room and get a menu and pick out his meals, he cannot. The place is beautiful and very clean, but really don't think that I will be keeping him here if things don't change. I visit daily to check and visit him. Also, his nurse was suppose to have an effective care plan in place per patient. I can't ever even find his nurses. They're left out in halls, just sitting in they're wheel chairs probably bored to death. They aren't taken outside on the beautiful large grounds to get Vit D, sunshine. He saw the facility physician, who I believe only comes once weekly for all patients, today and the doctor was dismissive to his back pain. I am disabled myself and can only be there once a day. What the hell are we paying them for? It's not a babysitting job where you just make sure they make it through the day. There is ACTUAL CARE involved! Also, they called us in the Director of Nursi

Excellent place, I would only hope when the time comes when I need that kind of care that someone puts me there in Lacoba Nursing home. My father in-law was transferred there from the hospital for his last remaining days. The facility is very clean, and well cared for.The staff was awesome, they cared for him gently and with tremendous compassion.The staff also provided support any way they could with remarkable hospitality. We went to the lounge to take a break as the end drew close and they gave us a private room with all the accommodations of a good hotel, even brought us pitchers of water and anything else we needed as we waited for the end of his life. The staff brought us snakes, meals and provided emotional support as well.The nurses were very knowledgeable ,professional and extraordinarily compassionate during our time of great distress.I can't recommend Lacoba highly enough. Five stars doesn't due it justice
